Dirty Player

The Detroit Lions made a bad choice in drafting DT Ndamukong Suh in the 2010 NFL draft. While he is a talented player who has shown he can dominate his position, he has done a better job at focusing on showing everyone that he doesn’t deserve the money he’s being paid,  let alone the privilege of playing in the NFL.

In his first two seasons he has been fined a total of $42,500 and has been flagged for nine personal fouls in his first two years, the most of any player in the league in that time frame. His first major incident came about in 2010 when he grabbed then Cleveland Browns QB Jake Delhomme by the face mask then wrapped his arms around his helmet and slammed him to the turf. He then showed his true grit once more when,  in 2011 in the preseason,  he again ripped the helmet off of a QB and slammed them into the ground. This time it was Cincinnati Bengals rookie QB Andy Dalton.

Ndamukong  Suhs’ absolute worse display of sportsmanship was this past season in the regular season. No one will ever forget when he pushed Green Bay Packer offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smiths’ head into the ground and then got up and stomped on his arm. He was ejected from the game for that incident and suspended for two games. There is no place for that in competitive sports let alone the NFL. That, in my opinion, was the most embarrassing day ever for the Detroit Lions. Then to make matters worse a few weeks later he caused more problems when he was overly rough with members of the Chicago Bears.

Listen, I played football growing up, I know it is a very rough very tough sport. However there is no place for what Ndamukong Suh has done in the NFL. The fact that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has given Ndamukong Suh so many chances is just baffling. I know plenty of people that went to school here in Portland with him and they all tend to say that he was an egotistical jerk, who was a bully and prayed on the weak and people different then he was.

When he came into the league I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt from what people around me were saying about him. But after watching him play for such a short period of time and carrying on like this it really bothers me that he gets away with it every time.
While very talented, Ndamukong Suh is an overly violent player. Perhaps one of if not the dirtiest player the NFL and its fans have ever witnessed, and to be quite honest he should be barred or record setting fined. There is no honor, pride, or bravery in what Ndamukong Suh is doing for the Detroit Lions, the NFL or fans of any team.
