Does Joe Flacco Deserve More Credit?

The Baltimore Ravens have just secured a spot in the AFC championship game. Earlier this week, Joe Flacco has indicated that if the Ravens advance in the playoffs, the media will likely give him no credit. The media will indicate that the rest of the team is responsible for the win and Flacco is just along for the ride. However, does Flacco deserve more credit?
If anything, you may have noticed this year that Flacco has become a little more outspoken and a little more involved with the media. In years passed, Flacco has had far and few comments to the media. This year, he is speaking his mind and even seems a little upset with the media. Can you see his point?
Honestly, he may just have a point. A lot of quarterbacks get credit for a win no matter how terrible of a game they have. For some quarterbacks, just walking out on the field for the game is enough to give them credit as the star of the game. With Joe Flacco, this is not the case. Flacco has to play hard and is still criticized for something. If Flacco throws the ball, the Ravens will be criticized for a lack of a running game. If the Ravens have a good running game, Flacco will be criticized for not throwing the ball.
With the Ravens on their way to an AFC championship game, one thing is for sure. Joe Flacco has had something to do with the Raven’s success. While Flacco is often criticized for his inconsistency, the AFC championship game may be a place for him to prove himself once and for all. Taking the Ravens to the Super Bowl (and better yet winning) may just get the media off of Joe Flacco’s back once and for all.
