Week One: Where do we go from here?
Where do we go from here? I want to rant about all of the missed opportunities. But before I lose my mind, allow me to point out that Cierre Wood rushed for 104 yards on 21 attempts. Michael Floyd had yet another huge game with 150+ yards and two scores. The offense seemed out of the sync at times. Half time decision by Coach Kelly basically means that Rees is in, and the senior Crist is out! Anybody want to argue that one? The defense looked solid but not dominant. I guess we’ll be practicing redzone offense this week. The turnovers sucked the life right out of them. The personal fouls were unacceptable for big time Catholic school football… I thought I was watching a Miami game. Did Brian Kelly get out coached by Skip Holtz? Where do we go from here? Why am I asking this question after the South Florida game? Is six or maybe seven days enough time to get this team ready for Ann Arbor in front of the nation? There are so many unanswered questions right now. After writing this blog, I am going outside and I am going to kick a 30 yarder in honor of David Ruffer. Come on people tell me that you DON’T feel the same way. Skip is no slouch and he came prepared. But this game was thiers for the taking and the Irish failed to take it. You don’t own the field with over 500 yards total offense and then choke when it counts. South Florida was on a mission to honor former AD Selman, they came to win. They persevered against a talented home team and 80,000 deafening fans on opening day…we can give USF the credit that they deserve. But where do we go from here?
